The best things in my life right now are lame things. Well, not the BEST things, but no mushiness today. Here's a list of things making me happy lately:
This show on hulu called Spy.
My brother texted me and told me I HAD to watch this show. I didn't respond. He then called and asked if I would watch the show. I was thinking it was some CSI-style drama, and I wasn't interested. He told me it was actually a comedy. A spy comedy where someone uses their shoe as a phone? No thanks. He called me a few more times, and to get him off my back I watched the first episode. Then the second. Then I waited for Rob to come home and we watched the first 5 episodes back-to-back-to-back. We laughed until our sides were sore. Then we watched some of the episodes again.
Turns out Spy is not what I thought it "should" be. It's way, way better. The main character is adorable, the caricatures around him are hilarious, the plot line is cute. Plus, it's a British comedy. Pretty sure that's what really sold it for me.
You should check it out. It's only 6 episodes in. Not much to catch up on.
My iTunes is back!
In January we got a "new" computer. When we transferred everything over, it copied all my iTunes libraries. Rob's. Mine. My old ones. I had doubles and triples of songs, all different sorts of titles. It was a mess. iTunes allows you to synch your iPod with your iTunes, but not the other way around. So, I can choose to erase what's on my iPod to match what's on my computer (which in this case would have been nuts), but I can't do the opposite. I was depressed. This was the last of a long line of iTunes frustrations.
I was talking to another one of my brothers about how frustrated I was by it, and I told him I was ready to just delete all my songs and start over. He told me about this winamp workaround. It lets you hook up your iPod to winamp and then work magic. The songs go from your iPod to winamp, from winamp to your hard drive, from the hard drive to iTunes, and then from iTunes BACK to your iPod. Voila! Fixed.
In the last few days I have purchased the 5 songs I've wanted to purchase throughout the year, and then added a few that the kids wanted, too. Mean by Taylor Swift? No problem. Dynamite by Taio Cruz? Sure. (Actually, the kids wanted Candlelight, but you can't actually purchase (or find) that one. So Dynamite was the second place prize.)
I did, however, turn down Miciah's request for Toxic by Brittney Spears and When I Grow Up by The Pussycat Dolls.
This Christmas site called isitchristmas.com
Seriously. You'll love it.
A Compliment
Last Thursday I went to one of my classes taught by an adorable, hilarious deaf man named Tony. Only 1 of the 2 interpreters showed up. He sat down, looked over at me, and informed me, in sign language, that the other interpreter wasn't coming because she was sick. Then he asked, "You want to team [interpret] with me?" I just started laughing. He's a professional interpreter who has voiced for Tony hundreds upon hundreds of times. I haven't even started the Practicum portion of my schooling, so I haven't officially voiced for anyone ever. I signed back to him "ha ha" and continued getting ready for class. He signed, kinda to himself, "You could," and that was the end of our conversation.
Still, I'll take it as a high compliment.
And, a staple recently: The race for the Republican nomination.
Seriously, no end of fun there. I love political comedy. I'll be super sad when it's all over in the next few weeks / months. I can be hopeful that the Presidential election will provide just as many fun times, but it's only a sliver of hope. It won't be the Rollercoaster of Awesomeness that the Republican race has been.
Hope you also have a list of lame things making you happy!
