Shockingly, we don't have great before pictures of the stairs.  Who takes pictures of their stairs?!  Here's a picture we took of our cat, Cleo*, that happened to include part of the stairs:

You get the idea.  Painted white stairs with black tread running down the middle.  Nothing special, but nothing awful either.  It was a little old school.  I liked it.  But after years of normal living, plus a few months of intense construction, the stairs were a mess:

I asked the contractors to redo the stairs (not in the original plan) and make it look nice.  Here's the end result:

Love it.

*Cleo is now my brother's cat.  It's a win-win.  She never liked kids much, and his is an adults-only household.  It's quieter for her there, they have a pet to love on, and they live close enough that we get to see her when we visit.  She still doesn't like us much.  I think we made the right call.

**Onyx is in the Now pictures.  He's like the best cat ever, and worthy of his own blog post.  We've had him since January and already love him an unreasonable amount.  He's in these pictures (and the rest that I took of the basement) because everyone else was outside and he couldn't stand being alone.  He's very much like a dog in that respect.
