My Sons

Elijah today told me that he has rocks in his stomach so he can breathe. I repeated the statement back to him as a question, for clarification, and he said, "Yeah. Look." Then he took a few deep breaths and said, "See? I have rocks in my stomach."

Someday I would LOVE to get inside his head so I could figure out what in the heck he's talking about when he says things!

Miciah never really went through a stage like this. She was always an excellent communicator and picked up adult explanations for things quickly. So it's fascinating to listen to Elijah explain things. Sometimes I can listen and I'll observe what he sees and I'll think, "That makes so much sense!" And then other times it's rocks in his stomach that allow him to breathe. :)

Kids crack me up.

Today Teancom received a birthday card from Grandma D (she's so sweet to send cards to all the great grandkids). I read it to him and then handed it to him. He walked around with it, holding it, saying, "Mine!" Then he was opening and closing it, like a mouth, and saying, "Roar!" Elijah tried to take the card and Teancom screamed at him and I made Elijah give it back. Teancom nibbled on the card a little (to see what it tastes like?). He pulled the decoration off the front of the card. He threw the card on the ground and began stomping on it.

This whole time he's loving having this card that is HIS. He's not meanly stomping on the card (no "I hate Grandma" sentiments there). He's loving playing with it. And he's loving that it's his. He banged it up to shreds, but he loved every moment of it. I thought about how most people just get a card and look at it. Teancom PLAYED with his.

I watched this funny funny scene and thought, "This is going to be the highlight of my day, I can tell."
