Playing with Daddy

We had some friends over on Wednesday night and my kids mobbed Cody. Cody was a lion and they climbed all over him and wrestled with him and wouldn't leave him alone for probably a good hour. I felt bad for Cody until I realized that, as an adult, he had the power to stop it. Rob turned to me and said, "I guess I need to play with my kids more." I looked back at him with that wife-only look of, "You THINK?" mixed with, "Don't even get me started..."

Yesterday I took the kids to a splash park. They did AMAZINGLY well and gave me hope that motherhood isn't always insanity. After we got home, I put Miciah's swimming suit in the washing machine. A little while later she came up to me and said, "Mom, where is my swim suit?" I told her it was in the washing machine. "But Mom, I NEED my swim suit." Well, it was dirty after a few days. Why do you need it? "Because, Mom. I have a surprise for Daddy. When he gets home I'm going to tell him I have a surprise for him and when he comes in the back yard, I'm going to splash him!" Oh.

That was around 2 o'clock. At about 5 Rob got home. He walked around back to see what the kids were doing. He came back to the front door and knocked. I opened the door and he was a little wet. He told me that Miciah had tried to splash him, but he wasn't falling for it. I told him that Miciah had been planning the "surprise" for hours. And because he's a good daddy and he didn't want to disappoint her plan, he went back to get splashed.

A little while later he came back again to the front door and this time he was SOAKED. :) I told him he had to go back so I could get some "action shots". What a fun day!

Now it's Miciah's turn!

Rob doesn't like this picture for reasons that might be obvious to my father.

I wouldn't let Rob come in the house with those clothes on. I made him strip, underwear and all, while I held a towel to shield him. ... I didn't hang the underwear out to dry, though.
