I sent Rob with $500 cash in hand to Furniture Fair, to see what kind of deal they could give us. We have too many other financial obligations and goals to spend much more than $500. He went knowing we needed a love seat, but open to the idea of a matching set.
Anyways, the long and short of it is that we bought a new couch and matching love seat. The couch was on super sale because they changed the lot number and so couldn't sell the couch and love seat as a "matching set" any more, even though they are identical. Worked out well for us, we got the couch for an extra $180, and the whole thing came to $567.
I suppose we should have Dave Ramseyed 'em down to the even $500 we had. Alas, missed opportunity.
The couch is HUGE. We had to take the door off it's hinges, and turn the couch at an angle. It makes our old couches look tiny. We only have the couch right now. The love seat is on order and will arrive at the beginning of March. March?! That's a long time from now. But whatever.
This is the picture from Furniture Fair's website:
Our couches might be a little darker in color than this photo shows. These aren't the couches I would have set out looking for, but after looking at other websites and what they have to offer, apparently this is a great couch. Not awful floral or nastily styled. ... This couch and color remind me of my Grandpa T's couches, so they've been selling this type and color for ages. The color they told us it was: Olympic Latte. The REAL color: Non-Descript Brown. I will forever tell people that is the color of our couch: Non-Descript Brown.
Hurray for new couches!
