July 10. Last full day in Yellowstone. We went to the Mammoth Hot Springs area which wasn't as cool as it could have been. Funny: it's been a wet year in the park, but Mammoth was dry. When Mammoth has a wet year, it's amazing! When it's a dry year, instead of the brilliant colors and run-off, you have an eerie white color, and no run-off. So it was disappointing, but still really cool.
Colorful run-off. The water was coming out like a spout from the side of the hill.
Highlights included seeing elk hanging out in the shadows of a house. About 6 of them, mothers and babies, were just chillin' in this guy's front yard. It was hilarious, cause there were only slivers of shade, and they found all of it.
We took a family picture. This is the redhead stepchild version of it:
Then we were on to Artists Paint Pots. Which will be my last Yellowstone post, until I post a Best Of pictures and stories (I couldn't fit them all in these posts. Too many!!). Then we're on to Utah, Zion National Park, Mt. Timp, California, the beach, Teancom's 3rd birthday, ...
