So, the time is quickly approaching when I will need to purchase a new laptop. The idea is that we will re-format this computer and make it the kids' computer, and the new laptop will then be mine. This computer still works, but it's 5 years old and so it just shuts down about every other time I use it; it freezes when I try to use Outlook or Internet Explorer; and about half the time I have to manually shut it down (as in, press the power button) when I ask it to shut down, or else it will stay on the "shutting down" screen for hours.
... We did some cost-effective updates to it a while back and the guy who helped us promised another 6 months or so out of the computer. His projection was about right.
At any rate, I thought I would ask all my tech-saavy family and friends if they have any suggestions for my new laptop purchase. I refuse to spend over $1000 (unless there's some REALLY good reason), and I don't really want a Mac (compatibility issues--I'm holding out until PCs and Macs actually communicate with each other). Other than that, I'm completely open.
Until then, don't expect regular blog posts, e-mails, or facebook usage. The computer is getting super frustrating to use.
