Found

We have had some significant reasons to clean our van lately. First was the Great Trip of 2009. Made a mess of the van for weeks, but then we cleaned it all up pretty quickly--within hours of arriving at home the contents of the van were unpacked and put away. I was impressed with us, actually.

And then, over Labor Day weekend, we went on a camping trip to Kirtland, OH. Camping trips always make the van a mess, no matter how hard you try to keep it clean. And we didn't try to keep it clean, so it was even worse. All this was to be expected and wasn't really a big deal, until we were sick the 2 days following our return.

So last week on Thursday I opened the van to take the kids to a play date and an odor came to my nostrils. "Oh yeah," I thought.

I cleaned out the van. And found 2 things of note:

1 - Teancom's Birthday card from Grandma Thacker (his birthday was in July). Contained 5 brand-new One Dollar bills. What a happy find!

2 - Towels. Still wet and covered in lake gunk. You can imagine how they smelled. They affected every piece of cloth in the van. You know how cloth just absorbs smell. All the clothes. More towels. Sleeping bags. Luggage. ... Super fun.
