Today I was extremely grateful for the opportunity of writing a note to the school that went something like this:
"Mrs. Parker
room 121
"Elijah Thacker's absence on Dec. 9, 2009 was inexcusable, as we have told him repeatedly. He faked being sick so he could stay home, and because of his behavior he has had privileges taken away, had to stay in bed until 4:30 p.m., could only eat saltines and bread (because that's what a sick person eats), had to go to bed early, and was otherwise reprimanded.
"So, sorry he wasn't at school yesterday, but hopefully we've made enough of a Lesson out of the situation that he won't do it again.
"Tamra Thacker
"(Oh, and it just figures that he would pull this trick on the day that our car was in the shop, so that when I figured it out I couldn't take him to school. Ah, parenting.)"
