A while back (maybe a year ago) I claimed that I was a better Yahtzee player than Rob. I claimed that while he may have flashes of brilliance, he also had moments of awfulness, and I played a steadier, solid game.
So we put it to the test, right then. We started saving our Yahtzee score cards, and posted them on the wall. After saving 4 score cards, which is 24 total games, we've declared our experiment done. I'm sure you're dying to know how it turned out! Here's the data analysis.
Rob's Scorecard Averages
#1 #2 #3 #4
264.5 232.33 268.8 228
TOTAL AVERAGE
248.41666
Tamra's Scorecard Averages
#1 #2 #3 #4
248.3 258.66 224 253
TOTAL AVERAGE
246
As it turns out, our average score is statistically the same. So I was wrong. I'm not better at Yahtzee than Rob. Nor am I necessarily more steady, as our highs and lows show:
Rob's High Game Tamra's High Game
402 425
Rob's Low Game Tamra's Low Game
128 146
Yahtzees seemed to be random events, with each of us averaging well less than 1 a game. Rob had 11 and I had 8. Interestingly, we both had at least 2 games of 2 Yahtzees. So if you get one Yahtzee, chances are very much increased that you'll get another in that same game.
Though I have to say that nearly as interesting as the number data is the names we chose for ourselves.
Rob's 4 Names: Tamra's 4 Names:
Yahtzee MASTER (Hy-yah!) Tamra
Robit Tamra, the loveliest
LOSER Winner
Robert-Smobert Tamra the Incredible
And there you have it.

You're high game was higher and your low game was also higher. I say that means you win!
I told Rob about your comment, and he said, "Yeah, I was thinking that, too." Hurray! Rob says I win!
Statistically, it seems that Yahtzee almost a roll of the dice. Odd that way.
